Frequently Asked Questions

Our FAQ section provides all the information you need to ensure a smooth and successful aerial arts photoshoot, from preparation tips to what to wear.

Q: What types of aerial art can I have photographed at Selina's Studios?

A: At Selina's Studios, we specialise in capturing various aerial arts, including aerial silks, lyra (aerial hoop), trapeze, and pole. Whether you specialise in one apparatus or perform on multiple, we can showcase your skills beautifully.

Q: How long does an aerial arts photoshoot typically last?

A: Our standard aerial art photoshoots typically last 1 to 2 hours. However, we offer extended sessions for more complex or multiple apparatus setups to ensure you have enough time to capture diverse movements and expressions.

Q: What should I bring to my aerial arts photoshoot?

A: You should bring any specific outfits you wish to wear, makeup for touch-ups, and any personal props you would like included in your photos. We also recommend bringing hydration and snacks, especially for longer sessions, to keep your energy up.

Q: Can I view the photos during the shoot to make adjustments?

A: Absolutely! We encourage you to review the images during the session. This collaboration allows you to make real-time adjustments to poses, expressions, and outfit arrangements to ensure the final images meet your expectations.

Q: How do I prepare physically and mentally for my aerial arts photoshoot?

A: Physically, rest well the day before and stay hydrated. Mentally, practice your poses and sequences to feel confident. Visualising your routines and thinking about the emotions you want to convey through your expressions and poses during the shoot is also helpful.

Q: What is Aerial art?

A: Aerial art refers to a form of performance in which artists perform acrobatics while hanging from a fabric, hoop, rope, or other apparatus suspended in the air. This art form combines dance, gymnastics, and circus arts elements and is known for its grace, strength, and flexibility. Performers, often called aerialists, execute various manoeuvres such as climbs, wraps, drops, and poses, creating visually stunning routines that defy gravity.

Aerial silks, also known as aerial fabrics or tissue, involve performing on a long, flowing fabric suspended from the ceiling, allowing for dramatic drops and fluid movements. Aerial hoops, also known as Lyra, Aerial Ring, Cerceau or Cerceaux, involve acrobatics on a circular steel apparatus, offering a different aesthetic and style of movement. Other standard aerial apparatuses include trapezes and ropes. Aerial art is prevalent in contemporary circus productions, dance performances, and fitness studios, and it has grown in popularity due to its visual appeal and the physical challenge it presents.
